This weekend was the first weekend in a long time that my wife and I spent the weekend at home. Doing nothing but sitting around and relaxing. It’s been a long long time since we’ve had a low key weekend on the couch.
I noticed Sunday morning that my left hip was hurting, but this is nothing new and seems to flair up when I do an excessive amount of sitting down for work. So I wasn’t looking forward of a whole work week of sitting in pain.
That’s when the lightbulb went off that it might finally be time to convert to being a Standing Desk worker. I work from home now and have the perfect spot to do it at the kitchen counter. So with no investment required at all, I put on my shoes and plugged my in MacBook in the kitchen and officially became a Stand Desker! Or Desk Stander?
It’s been two days and so far I love it. I don’t feel tired in the middle of the day like I used to, so my caffeine consumption (just tea) is completely habitual. For whatever reason I feel way more focused on the work in front of me and am not feeling distracted by everything around me.
Most importantly, when I take small breaks from work and sit down, they actually feel like breaks and I feel recharged when I get back up and move over to the MacBook. Sitting all day working and then going to the couch to sit after work never felt like relaxation time, it just felt like more and more sitting.
I need to get a mat and some new shoes to complete the transformation, but I am super excited to keep at this.
